I built this Unreal Engine Master Material so I wouldn't have to build another one. The goal was to give myself as many adjustable parameters as possible, so I could create an infinite variety of material instances, all using this one Master Material.

*This asset is not a texture pack with hundreds of pre-built materials (though it does come with a few demo textures, and 12 demo material instances). It's a foundation for controlling all textures you want to plug into it.

YOU GET:

  • (1) Master Material (the one material to rule them all)
  • (12) Demo Material Instances (all made from the same master material)
  • (1) Material Function (position, scale, rotation)
  • (7) Demo Textures (concrete albedo, roughness, specular, normal, +3 imperfections (smudges/footprints/water spots)

MASTER MATERIAL FEATURES:

  • Position, Scale, Rotation controls
  • Albedo controls (brightness, saturation, tint, contrast, toggleable base color)
  • Metallic controls (toggleable base metallic)
  • Specular controls (brightness, contrast, toggleable base specular)
  • Roughness controls (brightness, contrast, toggleable base roughness)
  • Normal controls (intensity)
  • Opacity controls (opacity slider, toggleable texture sample)
  • Emissive controls (intensity, color)
  • Surface Imperfection controls (toggle on/off, texture swap, brightness, contrast, min/mix, blend, UV controls)
  • Dirt controls (toggle on/off, texture swap, brightness, contrast, min/mix, blend, UV controls)
  • Snow/Dust controls (toggle on/off, color, invert mask, secondary imperfections, brightness, contrast, min/max, UV controls)
  • Texture controls (swappable albedo, roughness, specular, normal, opacity)


HOW TO USE: Unzip, and either open the Unreal project file, OR, inside of the content folder, grab "TheMasterMaterial" folder and copy/paste it into the content folder of any Unreal Engine project.

VERSION NOTES:

v3:
- added snow/dust layer controls
- redesigned the normal map node structure
- added "color correction" dropdowns for anything that uses (brightness, contrast, saturation, min/max)
- disabled unneeded plugins from UE project file

v2:
- added switchers & controls to use textures for metallic, opacity and emissive (with placeholder black_solid in the texture slot)
- using the terminology "scale" as opposed to "tiling" as it's more accurate.
